here comes the second release on the pattern repeat label. pattern repeat is a new music-project and label by kenneth christiansen, echocord & echocord colour label boss, and his partner dennis bøg aka resoe, running the baum label.the pattern repeat label will only contains productions from kenneth & dennis, and the music is focused on the modern berlin techno sound today, dubstep and dub-techno. pattern repeat will also release records on other labels, so far the first one is out on echocord colour. kenneth and dennis met eachother 8 years ago when they worked together in at that time famous copenhagen-record-shop >loud<, which closed 5 years ago. at that time dennis was more into broken beat, hip-hop and deep house. kenneth was already running the label echocord, and soon dennis started his label baum. the label baum is also like echocord, releasing dub-techno, and dennis started to release his own material as resoe, and builded up his studio the years after. 1 year ago we decided to try to do a new project together, working together in the studio, and now pattern repeat is born.

with a well-earned remix refill, cocoon recordings is taking a bow before the belfast-born dj and producer phil kieran, whose >shh< album from last year, like rarely another album release, was able to proof how fresh, futuristic and complex modern techno can sound.

herman is probably the coolest artist name we have heard in a while.. so unsexy and very unlikely that its not someone s real name... but stuart li must have had a laugh about it with some friends and some beers! stuart li aka basic soul unit aka herman starts this project for his production that one would not directly link to his chicago house rooted basic soul unit releases. herman delivers two hot tracks with dubstep fueled beats, sub bass driven grooves with detroit influenced sounds that one could expect on a label such as hessle audio. title track prototype is total killer which goes into the direction of 2562 and martyn. april skies sound like aril brikha meets 2562 meets basic soul unit. hot release!!

here is finally the first single from yakine, a close member to the eklo family. after his featuring on the hooksey vol.1, he gave us four tracks which he worked specially for this ep. yakine explored a new sound, some more melodic and deeper works, different from his usual stuff. captor of sin, the main track here. we find yakine in a more pop dimension with the vocals. the metric rhythm is mix it up with sub and perky shuffle grooves, everything harmonized through a lead ambiance made of weird synts & pads. then shirp, lead from synths, the track go on in the same vibe, more excentric and percussive, rounded beat, and a slap bass, 80s funk type. on the flip, temptation, a more singular track, a great detroit techno influenced, with his unusual keys and some indus sounds. the story ending with aferone, a deep and sensitive balad, overhang by a poetic piano coming and going all along. solid and versatile 12 inch.

fresh & ltd repress !! mark murphy is a jazz singer legend. he started in the late 50is, ruled the 60is and his records are a hipsters must have since the 70is. then he came to fame again when one gilles peterson got him into dingwalls in the late 80is and japanese producers united future organisation made murphys version of stolen moments (he wrote the lyrics) really big. recently he releases his second album love is what stays on verve (germany), produced by famous german trumpeter till brönner. another famous german producer, yes its henrik schwarz, touched the original track with its deep vocals and full orchestrra arrangement and created the ultimative fusion of jazz and the recent deep house sound from berlin. extremly tasteful. you will never heard strings, wooden brass, and such deepnees of murphy featured in the recent clubcontext but will do thanks to henrik schwarz. different to many others this remix gets released right after being finished in henriks studio so you can say this is the sound of the moment

swedish institution in techno music cari lekebush is no stranger to harthouse records. in 2008 he released his single absorb and his album mind over matter on harthouse mannheim. moreover his track stimuli he produced under his alias braincell together with jola bola aka joel stefansson appeared on the mirror of the future compilation. furthermore he had several releases in the mid and late nineties at our label. with his own label h. productions and his own studio hp hq he is one of swedish djs and producers who characterized and spread out the sound into the world that was famous later as swedish techno (beside adam beyer, joel mull or per grindvik). now he is coming around with his new release merry go round on harthouse.

cassy is releasing her third record on her own label, where she concentrates on simple sound and voice experiments. very characteristic for her sound again her voice and the 808 on both tracks. endless endeacour is a love song where ava can be received as an anti love song.

man/machine: viennas elektro guzzi challenge the meaning of live in electronic music. bored of laptop sets? with a classic setup of guitar, bass and drums, elektro guzzi quantize themselves to an unheard level of discipline, tightness and danceability. no computers, no pre-recorded loops, no solos. probably the first time techno is really played live. as sequential as they may sound, they couldnt be more analogue. but however traditional they may look as a band, they certainly do not sound like one.

in case you havent figured it out yet, kompakt loves tradition and as you know, we have had a longstanding affair with our beloved japanese producer extraordinaire hiroshi watanabe aka kaito. his 2009 full length trust (komcd74) showcased a deeper, more matured side to kaitos now classic sound.

>chaotisch serie< kicks off with a human sound that could only be composed deep in your throat, a sound that can hardly be described in words... rough and smooth at the same time... screaming for help it seems. then suddenly metallic sounds delay and tumble in... turning into an army of steel beetles swarming the place. plunging into a sweet melody that contorts being followed by trippy delays reminding us of the opening sequence of >the hunger< with catherine deneuve and david bowie at a bauhaus concert, we know this track will be huge.

traversable wormhole has been one of the hottest mystery artist projects/ series in the techno scene for the last several months. finally coming out of the wormhole to reveal him self in 2010. we find it to be none other then legendary nyc techno pioneer adam x. adam’s >traversable wormhole< is now stepping up to vol 7, keeping the series fresher then ever with more new sound innovations in sci fi techno and dubstep.

following up his s soup plate with two slick dubby techno trax and a solid remix from eamonn doyle, captain baiyon is ready to kick your ass again, banzai! evening glow of a river brings a dreamlike quality to any clubspace. pushing the shuffle under a spectral vocal to conjour the mood of a haunted skyscraper. its a masterful synthesis of what could be called a traditional techno sound (the one d1 made a tradition of) and an undefinable lucid ambience. lupe carries on the mood onward in a deceptively gentle style, this one gets loud! a solid dub groove that keeps the pace until the intermittent breakdowns where it rips the sky open with a terrorising bubble synth growing like a raging blob monster to the size of a small moon. somehow eamonn doyle manages to tame the beast in his remix. it purrs along beautifully under his signature tamborines and jump strings and ends proceedings in a lush deep style. unmissable for anyone who enjoyed winter sun or come down on the music.

we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz

jay haze aka fuckponys superb ode to love in general and loved-up ravers in particular provides us with another sparkling gem: the second single from his current lp has the equally romantic and revealing title >i m burning inside<. it allows us to clearly feel that love-fuelled power, but never lets us get close enough to the fire to get seriously burned. jays sound is simply a tad too cool for that. despite all the emotional appeal, he always keeps a wink in store to save us right at the brink. the remixers reboot and paul ritch give far more obvious signals. both of them say loud and clear: dance!

for the second time, kadebostan opens up an oriental sound bazaar on fenou with the souk e.p. and feeds us with musical delicacies. on side a he charms us with a virtuous sounding clarinet like a snake charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. our hips are swaying softly and smoothly under this hypnosis to a beating rhythm and repeating bass lines. on the flip he reveals the veil and involves us in a world of foreign sounding magical music. it is a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gently, but firmly beginning rhythm and oriental guitar and piano scales. what remains is a moment of magic.

after the brilliant debut album of kza >force of nature< which was released in october of 2009, kza came back with two strong remixed tracks! hottest uk producer in the nu disco&house scene the revenge remix on a-side, the original was italo electro style house track, then the revenge upgraded to deeper and playful atmospheric deep house sound. kzas favorite producer fernando who release on uk disco label redux is a member of 2020 soundsystem and silver city. fernandos dirty disco house remix is for fans of prins thomas or rub n tug.

dandy jack is maybe better known for his incredible energetic live appearances, shaking crowds all around and turning audiences into a non-stop atmospherical body wave. together with other artists (like for the memorable narod niki 1st public concert at mutek 2003) or alone, in small clubs or bigger events, the german-latin effect has nothing to proove, just power to give.

laying low in the cut after the much lauded >recession vol.1< mix album and his wrily-titled futuristic crossover >euro dance hit<, caravan label head honcho julian smith aka october returns from deep studio retreat with possibly his best, certainly most forward thinking dance floor record to date. as always october takes a big slice of his inspiration from the detroit techno sound of the 80s and early 90s which is clearly evident on the second cut on this plate in particular. however you simply cannot ignore his perhaps more euro-centric dub tendencies and broken-beat rhythm principles that always inform his overall composition and production ethos.

mature music for the deeply minded. we are back in full force with new mixes of moon in taurus with a full string of talent! first up is halo & jamie thinnes from citydeep & seasons records with there signature revisited mixes that always take you on a musical journey through mature music for the deeply minded. they had the pleasure of calling on there good friend rocco from realtone records to work on this project, which needs no introduction!! we just know him as the man!! william reelsoul rodriquez from sole channel music is up next with those deep bass lines and soulful chords in his main mix and kills is with a nasty dub! a new face on the deep house front beppe gioia, with a dirty dub to work any room. mr. dfa himself, darryl james brings the heat with his signature sound!  deep house movement pushes on.

italian musician, sound designer and dj based in venice, where he fights a reckless war against his winged neighbours: the infamous pigeons of st. marks square, who sometimes try to sabotage williams already unstable vintage synths. bottins sound is a blend of seventies disco, early eighties electro, italian giallo movies atmospheres and can be roughly defined as horror disco. among his collaborations: stevie kotey (chicken lips, bear funk), makossa & megablast, richard dorfmeister... bottin already released on bear funk, italians do it better, and after his contribution to the cosmic balearic beats vol. 1 compilation, this is his real 12 inch debut for eskimo.

nice price deal !!! expanding on the success of forward strategy group, label boss smear has fashioned the new minimalist outfit, retail & leisure, with a new addition of the fsg corporate family. retail & leisure is in many ways the polar opposite of fsg, ditching their trademark dense, heavy techno in favour of simplicity, space and a more systematic approach to composition. side a strips right down to the bare essentials, leaving little more than an ice-cold rhythm, bleep and hiss, creating a deep mix-tool for fans of artists such as mika vainio and sleeparchive. the b side features a remix by fsgs latest recruit adrian ross. mechanical scrapes and clangs mesh with deep, pressing kicks to create a sound which is dense and impenetrable. ross is a unique entity in techno: with a genuine outsiders take on the genre, he is an exciting prospect and a great asset to the group. the final track is r&ls take on dubstep, with dry, chalky percussion, discordant siren and churning bass. snares spin, shuffle and shatter against the tracks main, oppressive rhythms. the record ends with some valuable advice on where one should position ones feet

back in 1998 this was probably just about the wrongest record you had ever heard … and it has to be said that not much has changed. forshaw has a knack of turning out ridiculously hard and mangled electro and techno tracks – but still managing to make them sound >poppy<. sometimes, as in the case of rockford for example, it is because he uses well recognisable (but unexpected) samples. but more often it is just because he manages to make tunes (no matter how hard) that make you stop gurning and start smiling.

re-release of this mini-album with great rocking electrodisco inspired by the classic moroder / bobby orlando sound, mixed together with a bit of i-f and dopplereffekt.

this is the 11th release from sui generiz (division of absolut freak records), a special one marking a new phase of the portuguese label. andy book comes with a very deep track with beautiful chords, vocal works and melodic sounds, which give a nice and smooth trip called >if you tried<. the outstanding and famous french producer alexkid - already signed on the best labels such as f communications, rekids or cadenza - offers a super interesting and cleverly made remix. brilliant minimalist work pushing the limits of the original mix even further. then, the finnish producer zentex, well-known for his works on traum, kickboxer or resopal, is back on sui generiz (after having signed the first reference called >blue<) with a stunning version. deep, solid and driving remix. just listen! last but not least, johnwaynes - the exciting duo coming from the same land as the label - brings some organic beats and a bright piano for a beautiful remix, not less sui generis work than they use to do. their very unique sound, already heard on compost, brique rouge or bloop, will make you dance all long.

columbian producer robert alzate a.k.a khomha, has been snapped up by us here at baroque... his seductive deep house is exactly the kind of sound we were looking for in 2010, and this first ep is perfect highlight of the deep throbbing, tech influenced house sounds that sucked is in. on the remix is incognet... denis zynchenko produced some great tracks under his incognet guise in 2009 and looks set to step it up again in 2010 - a powerfull driving slice of prog, that compliments the deeper original perfectly.

get ready for an analog ride. these 80s multi tracks are all we have left from creative mind, crunch. hurricane katrina wiped out the home studio and master recordings. now back from the bayou, every struggling sound, tape flutter, and disco hiss are re released on vinyl, and sounding extra dirty.

nice first release with the hague, bunker sounding tracks with flirts to italo disco and electro. a sound that is retro-ish late 90s (1999?) just before electro clash became so big.
